Dr. Alberto Tostado practices conservative orthodontics, avoiding the extraction of teeth whenever possible. He removes teeth only to achieve the most functional and aesthetic result. Also, he encourages early orthodontic evaluation and diagnosis to treat or prevent complex cases with lengthier and more costly treatment.

Born in Arizona and raised in a small border city, as a child Dr. Tostado was active and competitive in sports, including golf, tennis, soccer, basketball, and karate. He is a third-generation dentist and had a close relationship with his late grandfather, a general dentist. Dr. Tostado observed his grandfather, father, uncle, and older brother’s passion for dentistry and improving patients’ self-esteem. So, he decided to pursue dentistry, a career that enables work-life balance and time to enjoy family.

“I enjoy establishing the doctor-patient relationship during orthodontic treatment. I pride myself in treating my patients and not delegating my work to assistants.” – Dr. Alberto Tostado

What He Enjoys About Being an Orthodontist

Dr. Tostado enjoys working with kids and adults. It is fun for him to watch young patients go through their high school journey, including sports and college applications, and to guide and advise them. Seeing patients’ self-esteem boost as their smiles take shape gives him great satisfaction.

“With adult patients, I love being part of a team that helps them achieve their picture-perfect smile. I also like giving my patients options based on their preference, such as clear aligners versus traditional braces,” he says.

Areas of Dentistry that Interest Him the Most

“I am especially interested in multidisciplinary cases, such as orthodontic/maxillofacial or orthodontic/prosthodontic cases. I was personally treated with orthognathic surgery and developed a certain bond with surgical cases. Usually, multidisciplinary cases have a very dramatic change, and seeing the impact it can have on patients’ lives is gratifying. I have experience working with prosthodontists to help our patients achieve their perfect smiles.”
